The Wrestling Machine

William has been wrestling these last few weeks. In the beginning he got pummeled, thrown, body slammed, ate mat, and literal sat on, and that was all in his first match. Horrible event to watch as a mother. But! He practiced, played, and gave animal names to wrestling moves, and suddenly he transformed into a great wrestling machine. These are pictures from his final match on Friday. He won the first match, but lost the last two. Although he lost, he held his own, earned points, and showed those other wrestlers you can't keep a good shark down (if lost on this reference just check-out those Valentine's boxes below). My Mr. Will Buddy!

Reflections!

Ellie won the Ribbon of Excellence in the area of drama for this year's reflections contest, "Beauty is..." It is too bad that my technology skills are still developing because I would love to post her great video. She wrote a play, and then enlisted two of her friends to act. It was a story about a poor girl, who still cared for those "girls" even though they teased her. She entitled her play "Inner Beauty." I am so proud, and from her smile, it is evident that she is too.

Big Snow Ball

This is the big snow ball Ellie (with some help from William and Harper...in the beginning) was determined to make. In the end she had to recruit her dad's muscles for the final push. This occured Valentine's weekend. An ode for those who love the snow...Ryan, Ellie, William and Harper, not to name any names though.

Spring Ahead!

The "time" might have changed today, which was the only thing that changed, because this morning the weather still declared it is winter! Only a couple new inches of snow. William had a great wrestling night on Friday (pictures to appear soon...I'll just blame it on losing an hour this weekend). Happy Spring!

Valentine's Boxes

Boys and Girls are just born different. That is the only explanation. William was told he needed a Valentine's box this year, and his first reaction was...yuck! Ellie quickly sat down to the table, and planned her creation. I had to tell William that he could make a box of whatever he wanted; it didn't have to be just hearts, and this is what he came up with...a shark jumping out of a Valentine's box, which looks like (in this picture) he wants to eat Ellie's cupcake. Boys and Girls!

Valentine Party in Ogden!

We had lots of fun partying with Grandma, Grandpa, Tracy and Lauren the weekend before Valentine's. We decorated sugar cookies...with a strict no double-dipping policy. Check out the picture of our frosting genius. The cookies of those who did double-dip (William and Harper) were omitted from the public tray display, and fed only to the corresponding creators. Then we played a rousing game of pin the heart on the dog's nose. It was laughable, but the best was Grandma positively sure that Tracy was steering her in the wrong direction. Amidst the girl's "Fashion Show," and William watching Lord of the Rings fight scenes over and over...a fun weekend was had by all. Perhaps the best was taking Ellie to see New Moon with Tracy. It wasn't quite as fun without all the hooting and hollering over Jacob, like the first time I saw the show, but all the "old" women must have been at a different show that night.

Mother/Son Date

Will and I spent an hour together is afternoon, and OH BOY (!) can that kid talk! He has always been the most quiet of our kids, but you get him one and one and his mouth can barely keep up with his thoughts. It was a completely enjoyable experience. I should do it again...soon.

I had to put these pictures in, so I could practice doing it, but I love the "spy" kids. I am sure this is what 007's family would look like. If only he were so LUCKY!

State of the Union?

I didn't really feel like I needed to watch the State of the Union address tonight because I can pretty much tell you the state it's already in. Words like "sadly optimistic" and "really this is a recovery" come to my state of mind. Actually, I tuned in to see what a slightly delusion and self-indulgent person might say (sorry...watched American Idol and sometimes Simon's critiques ring so true). What I would like to say here, I shouldn't because I am not a terrorist, which means I wouldn't enjoy the no torture-let's be kind to the enemy rule; plus they are probably "wire-tapping" this, since we don't want to impose or invade the terrorist communications (it would be rude), we'll do it to the real enemy...Conservatives. But, I digress. All I can say is the best thing I heard all night was the response from the Virginia Governor...can he just be our President now?

Hello!

Well this is my first venture in the blogging world. I guess you could say I am a virgin blogger, so please be kind and understanding of my naivete. Hopefully, I will have weekly updates, witty comments and great links, but let's be realistic: I might post when I feel like it (monthly); be witty when it's easy to spell and not past 10 pm; and what great links (my son's favorite Bakugan website). Yet I am optimistic because it is still January, and it's not too late to make goals that are complete unattainable and only slightly realistic, but hey, this might be the one resolution that makes it an entire year. However, I should warn you the only resolution I know that lasted all year was my husband's goal NOT to exercise, so why set a goal that isn't attainable? Duh!
